The Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse - Near Perfect Partner for a Handyman
Every once in a while, a product comes along that totally changes the way you work.
It increases productivity, reduces your frustration level, and it just makes life easier.
That product, for me, was the Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse.
It all started when I called to ask a good buddy of mine, Steve, to come over and help me hang some doors. I had just sanded and repainted all the interior doors.
Steve is a professional handyman. It's how he earns his living. We trade services quite a bit to help each other out. He helps me with projects sometimes, and I help him with his computer problems. It's a good trade.
When he arrived, he had his tools, but he also had something else dragging behind him. He called it his "Jaw Horse." Later, I found out that it was the Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse.
We used his Jaw Horse extensively that day, and I have to say that this piece of equipment was amazing.
I already owned another tool from Rockwell (the Sonicrafter Deluxe) and so I know that Rockwell made some extremely cool stuff... but the usefulness of the Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse was still a surprise.
To be honest, Steve could have just loaned me his Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse and not even had to be there, as it will hold a door in place on it's own. I could have also used it to hold the doors while I painted them, if I had known about the Jaw Horse sooner.
The Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse can clamp anything with the touch of a foot pedal, and the rubber pads keep the incredibly strong clamp from leaving marks on what you are working on. Honestly, I've been a do-it-yourself-er all my life and this tool is something I wish they had invented 20 years ago.
Long story short, I purchased my Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse the following day. I also, on Steve's advice, purchased 2 of the optional attachments: The Log Jaw Accessory Attachment (since I cut my own wood for the fireplace), and the Plywood Jaw Accessory Attachment (since I'm often working on large sheets of wood for projects).
There are other add-ons for the Jaw Horse that might be useful later on, but I haven't had a real need for them yet.
All in all, the Rockwell RK9000 Jaw Horse is something that no part-time DIY guy or handyman should be without. It will easily makes 2-man job a 1-man job, and will completely change the way you work.
