Rubbermaid Chest Review - Rubbermaid 5E39 Extra Large Deck Box with Seat

Why buy a Rubbermaid chest, anyway?
There are probably more uses for this Rubbermaid chest than I can think of at the moment.
We use our Rubbermaid chest to store our grilling and smoking equipment, such as extra propane tank, grill cleaning tools, tongs, and even charcoal and charcoal starter fluid.
These are things that we don't want the kids getting into, so we use a lock to keep these potentially dangerous items out of reach.
I have friends who use their Rubbermaid chest (the same exact model, actually) to store their gardening tools, fertilizer, bags of potting soil, and bulbs.
We have another set of friends who use a Rubbermaid chest similar to our to store their deck chair cushions so they don't get dirty and dusty, and also don't get wet when it rains. If you have deck chair cushions that you never want to sit in (because they are either dirty or wet) this Rubbermaid chest could be the answer to your problem.
We are thinking of getting a second Rubbermaid chest to store the kids' outdoor toys so they don't clutter up the yard as much. It would be nice to hide the toys when we have a party or barbecue, and the additional seating that our Rubbermaid chest provides would be an added bonus.
My only complaint about this Rubbermaid chest is that the top of the lid collects a little bit of water when it rains. This last year I kept having to wipe down the lid after a rain... and we got a lot of rain this past summer. Hopefully the next model will have some sort of drainage groove that routes the water off of the lid without sacrificing the seating comfort of the lid.
Despite my minor gripe about the seat holding a little water, this is by far the best Rubbermaid chest for your money. It is extremely well-made, looks great, is waterproof, and can easily hold the weight of 2 or 3 people sitting on the lid.
There are so many uses for this chest, I can't even list them all here... and remember, you could always use more storage space, right?
