Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera Review
Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera
If a picture is worth a thousand words, the photos taken with the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera are worth at least a million.
My wife is big on photos. She has a Facebook account and posts photos almost every day for her friends, family and old-classmates to see. She also has a digital photo frame in the living room that she regularly updates with new photos.
Also, having 4 kids that are each have their own sporting events, school activities and birthday parties makes it a little difficult to keep up (thank god we no longer have to pay for film and developing).
Needless to say that on a big holiday, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas, there is no less than 500 photos to sort through.
Because of this, we needed a camera that was a workhorse, portable, and captured the life's moments perfectly. After doing a month's worth of research, we settled on the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera.
This camera is not only small and portable, but it's also VERY comfortable in the hand. It has a nice, solid weight that gives the feeling of high-quality appliance. Also, I love the silver color, but it comes in just about any color you can think of.
The image stabilization feature is perfect for hand-held photos with no tripod, or images taken in a moving car or bus.
The 2.5 inches of LCD on the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera makes it easy to show your friends and family the photos you just took of them. The fact that the LCD is also scratch resistant and anti-glare isn't really that important unless you don't have it... but, the LCD brightness is instantly noticeable, making it easy to view your photos on a sunny day.
The anti-red-eye feature is one of the nicest I have seen, and I have never had a subject come out with red eyes.
I also like how the color-correction calculations are focused on the faces in the frame, to optimize skin tone by adjusting the white-balance based on the lighting of the subject's faces. Absolutely amazing.
NOTE: Some people my argue that the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera is ONLY 8 Megapixel, and that there are 12+ MP cameras out there right now. I don't know what reality these people are living in, but 8 Megapixel is more than most people need. You can easily turn these photos into posters. Also, as a computer technician, I can honestly say that many people run out of hard drive space because photos are so needlessly huge. I often have to train people how to reduce the resolution of their photos to save on hard drive storage.
All things considered, this little camera is amazing. It makes other compact cameras (even newer ones) look clunky, old and underpowered. If you are in the market for a new camera, the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS Elph Silver Digital Camera is the best money you could spend.
