Avenir Unicycle Review - Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle with 20-Inch Wheel

Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle (20-Inch Wheel)
At first glance, riding a unicycle looks difficult.
And, it is... at first.
Just like anything else in this life, it takes practice and time.
Humans were just not meant to balance on a single 20 inch wheel, right?
Luckily, the more you do it, the easier it gets.
But, but just like having the right equipment makes a tough job easier, having the right bike can make riding a unicycle a lot easier.
That's why I really LOVE the Avenir Unicycle line. They make solid bikes that work well. I've owned two bikes from the Avenir Unicycle catalog and they have both been excellent.
The Avenir unicycle models are all made to take some real abuse.
The Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle, however, is in a class by itself. Most unicycles look like they are made for children (and maybe they are).
However, the construction on this particular Avenir unicycle "mountain bike" is top notch. It looks like it could hold someone twice my size (currently, I weight about 210 pounds).
The wheel on the Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle is thicker and wider than the average Avenir unicycle tire, but it's still 20 inches (which is a somewhat standard size for unicycles).
I have talked to other people who say that the thicker tire makes it easier to do tricks, but I can't comment on that since I am not at the "trick level" yet.
But, I do know that the heaviness of the tire makes it a bit easier to ride.
First of all, the thicker tire on the Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle naturally lowers the center of gravity on the bike a little. Plus, the bulkiness of the larger tire allows for more bump absorption when I'm riding on an uneven surface.
You see, lots of people ride around on a gym floor, or something similar. This hub author, on the other hand, just puts on his pads and rides around in the cul-de-sac. If I run over a little pebble with my old style Avenir unicycle I can really feel it. But, with the Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle, I barely notice.
Side note: There, so now you know that I did NOT buy this Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle to ride in the mountains. I know some people who buy this Avenir unicycle WILL use it in the mountains, but I'm not nearly that good (and probably never will be).
There is only one negative thing about this bike. Just like my other Avenir unicycle, this Avenir Mountain Bike Unicycle did not come with very good instructions for assembly (if you even want to call them instructions). It also did not come with any tools to help with assembly. However, if you've ever assembled your kid's bike the night before Christmas in the dark, you'll do okay.
