I purchased the AT-PL120 back in the summer 2007 from an online retailer.
Growing up in the 80s, and not having a lot of money to purchase new cassettes, my music selection was limited to my mom's old records and whatever I could find at thrift shops and garage sales.
It wasn't all bad. My mom had some pretty cool stuff! I was listening to the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Elvis, Aerosmith, and lots of other really great music. Later, I added to this "starter" collection with some of my own records that I happen to find on my own. Before it was over, I had quite a collection of LPs.
But, like most people, I grew up, got a job and started earning money. Before too long, I had started purchasing tapes for the "Walkman" I received for Christmas, and later for the cassette player in my car.
After CDs started coming out, it was all over... my LP collection was long forgotten.
But, back in 2005, I found my old vinyls in the storage closet of my parent's house, and became interesting in listening to them again. This began my quest to find a good turntable that would do these vintage LPs justice.
In the summer of 2007, after much research and shopping (both online and offline), my quest concluded with my purchase of the Audio Technica Turntable Model AT-PL120.
Since then, I've been a happy boy.
The Audio-Technica AT-PL120
Couldn't be more happy about my purchase. The Audio Technica Turntable AT-PL120 has all of the features I need and then some. Apparently, what I wasn't fully aware of before purchase is that the Audio Technica Turntable AT-PL120 has a lot of features for DJs.
I am not a DJ, so I cannot comment on these special features.
However, I can say that this Audio Technica Turntable is perfect for my old vintage vinyl.
The adjustable counterweight and anti-skate adjustments are great for keeping my vinyl from needless wear and tear. The pre-amp line outputs make it easy to hook it up to whatever you want, including your computer (although I would opt for going sans computer for optimum audio quality).
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't consider myself an audiophile. Yes, I own some nice records and some nice stereo equipment. But, there are millions of people out there who probably know more about this stuff than I do. But, I can honestly say that the true analog sound produced by this Audio Technica Turntable is jaw dropping, compared to CDs or MP3s.
If you have some great records that you were once in love with, you owe it to yourself to fall in love with them again. A nice turntable will certainly help. Stick with the Audio Technica Turntable (preferably the AT-PL120, and you will not be disappointed.
Happy listening.
