Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool
Growing up in the south near the mouth of the Okefenokee Swamp, I don't remember too many times in my young life that I didn't own and carry a knife.
My favorite was the heavy, red Swiss Army knife.
It had every tool known to man on that thing, including a cork screw (still don't see the point of that one).
Now, as an adult, I hike and camp and make every attempt to live life to the fullest in beautiful Colorado. That means that I often have need for a knife, and occasionally have need for something more. So, for Christmas this year, I asked for the Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool.
When I held it my hands for the first time, I was amazed at how light it felt in the palm... but, surprisingly solid at the same time.
Of course I haven't had the Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool long enough to have a real opinion on how durable it is, I have already used it in some pretty extreme conditions.
Once was during some snowshoeing and one of my snowshoe cleats was bent and I had to use my Leatherman Skeletool pliers to bend it back into shape.
The other time was on top of a mountain with my snowboard (Beaver Creek, Colorado) and I had to tighten my bindings before going down. There was no tool station in sight and I was about to loose my left binding! So, the Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool came to my rescue again!
Before requesting this amazing little gem for Christmas, I did my research (as usual) and found that this particular Leatherman tool uses a much better grade of steel than some of the others. What this means is that the edge on your blades will last much longer than some of the blades on similar tools that use cheaper steel.
Also, it seems that this Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool comes with the non-serrated blade. Some of the others use a serrated edged blade, which in my opinion is harder to sharpen once it becomes dull.
All things considered, I'm very happy with my Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool. Yes, I've only had this tool for about a week, but so far it's everything I dreamed it would be. I'll be updating this hub as I get some more use out of it (and especially if it causes me problems).
